There’s been a lot of debate on whether or not Voldemort will be killed at the end of Book 7. I’ve seen less discussion, though, on the means of his demise. The Harry Potter series has seen it’s share of violence, but it’s never been easy to kill a character. Case in point, consider the battle in the Ministry at the conclusion of Book 5 — there were a dozen or so highly trained and capable wizards engaging each other, but only one death and that one we can judge as accidental. Technically Bellatrix killed Sirius, but he died from the veil and not the spell. Similarly, Harry himself has shown that he’s more willing to see the wicked rot in Azkaban (Wormtail) than be killed.

So in the climactic showdown between Harry and Voldemort, will we witness Harry stepping out of his principled mold and use an Unforgivable curse?

Will it even be Harry that kills him, or will it be Snape, Ron or Hermione, Dobby, Draco, or someone else?

Scholastic asks Harry Potter fans who winds up with whom.  Their choices are:

  • Harry and Ginny
  • Ron and Hermione
  • Harry and Hermione
  • Lupin and Tonks

Assuming all of our favorite characters survive Book 7,  they will eventually  need to find employment in the wizarding workforce.  Both Harry and Ron have expressed interest in becoming Aurors.  Hermione, with her enormous intellect,  could do almost anything.  Neville, for example,  seems destined for a career in Herbology.  What possibilities do you envision for these young wizards and their friends at the end of the series?

Scholastic’s third question is one that has been discussed at length by many fans since the 6th Book.  We were left to wonder whether or not Hogwarts would be allowed to reopen.  It is hard to imagine a Hogwarts without Dumbledore, and there is a question of the students’ safety.   But what do you think?  Will Hogwarts reopen?  And if they do, will Hermione, Ron, and Harry be attending for their final year?

Hogwarts

It is my own opinion that Hogwarts has to reopen for the next year.  Like Professor Sprout said, “I feel that if a single pupil wants to come, then the school ought to remain open for that pupil.”  However, I do not believe Ron, Hermione, or Harry will be attending, but they will be visiting the school at some point to find answers.  Do you agree?

Finally, Harry and Ginny are together, but will it last? Harry doesn’t want her in danger, but Ginny is not someone who will let danger keep her from Harry’s side. Ron and Hermione also seem to be revealing their mutual attraction, but, given their personalities, do they have a future? Likewise, what are the chances for success for Prof. Lupin and Tonks? And, how about Hagrid and Madame Maxine? Are there any other couples who might get together in the next book? Inquiring minds want to know!
