movie

This post goes out specially to those who haven’t yet read Order of the Phoenix but have seen the movie (or, like me, those who have done both but came away puzzled by what was omitted from the movie). Was there anything that didn’t make sense?

I noticed that no one explained why dementors were flying around Little Whinging.

Did anyone else see anything that wasn’t explained well in the movie that you feel should have been?

After seeing Movie Five, yet another movie that excludes Dobby, I am rethinking my earlier statements about The Deathly Hallows Covers.  I don’t believe anymore that those are Dobby’s ears sticking out from behind Harry on the UK children’s book cover.  I think Kreacher is on the cover.  It makes sense that his face is hidden, so we really don’t know which house elf is portrayed, but seeing that only last week we found out from J.K.R. herself that Kreacher has a significant role in Book 7 (see previous post Importance of Kreacher), and was kept in the movie because of this, it is more likely Kreacher than Dobby.

Last night I saw Order of the Phoenix and for me it was just like the last movie – slightly disappointing. I know, I know – the movies can’t follow the books exactly. But there are parts I was looking forward to seeing that were cut; i.e. the visit to St. Mungos hospital, more of the Black house, and Dobby’s part.

Overall, it really was not a bad movie. The cinematography was excellent, and I enjoyed seeing much of the same scenery and sets that were in the third movie, Prisoner of Azkaban. I particularly enjoyed the parts the director David Yates tells through newspaper articles. The actors, especially Radcliffe, Watson and Grint, have matured and become even better with time. Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix was especially good, even though her part in this film was small.

I really should not allow myself to be disappointed. The movie is well-done and captures the darkness of the book and Harry’s anger, which are probably two of the most important parts. But I would not mind sitting through an extra 15-20 minutes if that means less has to be cut out.

Does anyone agree or disagree? Let me know what you think.

Okay, who saw the movie?  Let’s hear your opinions!
