I think that both the UK additions (children’s and adult’s) have covers that make perfect sense within the context of the books. I am still unsure of what the US cover is depicting. What are Harry and Voldemort reaching for? Where are they exactly? What are the curtains?
If you have any ideas, let me know. I’m sure that you will only be able to write a comment that contains spoilers, so for those of you who have not yet finished Deathly Hallows, please don’t read the comments!!!!

I haven’t finished the 5th book yet, but I think I may have an idea. I don’t want to ruin the book for myself, so I won’t explain. Ellen O, Ohio

Okay so the cover is misleading. Harry Should be holding a wand in his right hand because this is supposed to be the scene in the Great Hall where Harry and Voldemort are dueling. Harry says, “Expelliarmus!” and knocks voldies wand out of his hand and he grabs it and that is what they are both reaching for. The place doesn’t look like the great hall, but maybe the illustrator did that so she wouldn’t give too much away.

I thought that maybe the curtain represented the curtain closing on the series, kind of like the end of the act. Could be reading too much into it, and I’m not sure what is supposed to be behind them.
Also, I think like Rudy they are both reaching for the Elder wand.

I also think it is the artist’s depiction of the Great Hall. The ceiling is showing the redish sunrise that Harry makes note of in the final scene.

well i think that the scene is them both reaching for the elder wand and it is in the great hall because like in the first beek hermione explains about the ceiling, but there isn’t he closing of the 7th book because she is writting an 8th book.
